Hurricane Kirk

Where is Hurricane Kirk headed and what should I know? Kirk the hurricane is moving over the Atlantic. On Wednesday, the weather event intensified into a Category 3 hurricane. Kirk is expected to continue strengthening while traveling northwest across the central Atlantic, according to a National Hurricane Center (NHC) bulletin released on Thursday morning at 4 a.m. EST.

The storm is expected to produce "swells," or unusually large waves, which are predicted to hit the Leeward Islands on Friday, Bermuda and the Greater Antilles on Saturday, and the Bahamas and U.S. East Coast on Sunday.

The NHC warned that "these swells are likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions."

As of right now, there are no watches or warnings in place for the coast.
